Science
A strong economy will allow the best support for empire research and development (R&D). Empire science activities are divided into three which are:
Research
During the time when the universe was governed by the United World Council, knowledge was shared among races. Like mining for example, before knowledge was shared, only the Aspha Miner race knew how to mine for minerals on planets successfully. The technique was shared with other races so that all can now mine. Although, specific races, which specialized in certain fields, (like the Aspha Miners do) have more advantages due to the practical skills involved. That is why Aspha Miners have plus 1000% to their mining technique that has been passed from generations to generations. There are five main tech researches that are useful to empires.
Blueprints of useful infrastructure was made for all to use and spread throughout the universe. However, before the United World Council could successfully organize a multi-species knowledge-sharing program where experts from certain races were to be sent to other species for training, the United World Council was overthrown. The dream of equal capability was lost. All that is left are those blueprints that were spread throughout the universe before that.
Utilizing these blueprints, empires will have to spend more time (turns) to research on the blueprints. There are in total of 255 blueprints that need to be researched. For every successful blueprint researched, the empire will gain a 10% efficiency of the researched infrastructure. The act of researching these blueprints is known as Infrastructure Research.
The United World Council's dreamt of peace and harmony, therefore, technology of ships was not shared. This is because there was no need for such technology sharing. Every empire in the universe was enjoying the peace and there were no thought of war involved. All the empires decided to stop improving on ships to make them better. Hence, each race will have their own ships kept in a concealed hangar in their respective empires. Only a small amount of neutral ships was selected to be used in the United World Councils' fleets to fight off hostile empires. After the United World Council was overthrown, all empires had to rely on the ships kept in their own hangars. The acts of researching these ships' blueprints are called Technology Research.

Research can be accessed via Command Menu: Manage Empire > Science > Research; Figure 1 will be shown on Primary Display. To begin research, click on the blueprint you wish to research and Figure 2 will be shown on Secondary Display (for low graphics, Figure 2 will be shown on Primary Display). Enter the amount of turns you want to use and click “Start Research !” button. |

Infrastructure
With the loss of peace and war is going on all around the universe, small empires will have to pay more attention towards improving their empire's infrastructure efficiency. There are, in total, 255 known blueprints that will improve the efficiency of any infrastructure. That is why empire leaders will have to decide on which infrastructure type they want to improve on.
For every blueprints researched on, the specific infrastructure will be working 10% more efficiently. With only 255 blueprints available, empire leaders will have to decide wisely on which infrastructure type they want to research. Usually, empires that focus on one or two researches will be ber in time.
The blueprints, which were spread out by the United World Council, are all different. Although there are 255 of them, every blueprint will be harder and harder to research on due to the fact that they are encrypted so that the knowledge will not fall into the wrong hands. Before they could send out the decryption code, the leaders of the United World Council were all murdered. That is why, being the only intelligent person in your empire, you will have to spend turns on them to decrypt them yourself. With each blueprint encrypted more secure than the other, you will have to spend more and more turns to decrypt more blueprints. There are no easy shortcuts to this as there are so many languages in the universe you will need to spend turns on them. Being an intelligent leader, you will start off with the easiest encrypted blueprint first working your way from the easiest to the hardest.
Below is the information for the five main researches, which empires can research, on using the blueprints.
- Housing
When in time of peace, population in the universe seems to multiply by the second. Due to this reason, blueprints were made so as to improve the efficiency of houses. With the blueprints researched, houses can be built higher, bigger and stronger so that it will support more population. With more population, the leader will get more tax from the population. However, bear in mind that for every population you have, it will mean that you will be able to bring up a bigger army. That is why 10% of your empire's total population amount will be added to your empire's Power Rating.
- Commercial
Now, population in your empire will trade among themselves. They will do businesses and go on living. As their leader, you have the privilege of collecting tax from the commercial activities they make. You will be collecting tax in the form of commercial building rents. However, the process of this money reaching your money reserve is hideous as your empire is big and the process is troublesome. Some of the money will be used to deliver the money to you. Having researched blueprints on commercial infrastructures, you will increase the efficiency of commercial infrastructure. You will gain 10% more money collected from commercial building for every successful commercial infrastructure you researched on.
- Agriculture
Food has always been the essence of life. Being in peace and harmony with increasing populations, empires will have to give food to its population. There are two ways of getting food for your empire. You can either buy food from the market or make your own. Agriculture infrastructures are the only place you can grow food for your empire. With this infrastructure, everything produced is not wasted. The edible part will be made into food while the rest will be packed up as raw materials for industries. Now to increase the production of food in your empire, you can resolve to research on blueprints on the agriculture infrastructure. With every successful level researched, your agriculture infrastructure will produce 10% more output.
- Industry
Here is where it gets a bit tricky, the industry's sole purpose is to convert raw material produced from agriculture infrastructure into sellable goods. All the other infrastructure types in your empire don't need anything to produce what they produce. The industry infrastructure will need raw material to produce goods. Therefore, you will need to have sufficient amount of raw material in order to produce goods. As the blueprints can be used on these industry infrastructures, researching on them will help making the process of producing these goods more efficient. Goods can be sold to your populations or sold in the market. Goods are sold to your population at a fixed price of $5 per unit. Using the blueprints to research on this industry infrastructure will increase the efficiency of industry by 10% for every level researched.
- Mining
Basically all planets are made of minerals, there are six different types of major minerals in the universe. Every planet is made of a certain mineral. Empires will need these minerals to build ships for exploration, defense or offense. Without minerals, empires are a dead stick. That is why minerals are the most important resources you will want to have.
There are two ways you can acquire minerals. One is to buy them from the market. The other is to mine for them yourself from the planets you have. It is always a privilege being able to mine for minerals. During the time of governance by the United World Council, the mining technique was spread to all the races. However, being miners from the beginning of time, the Aspha Miners do have a major mining technique advantage. Utilizing the Aspha Miner's knowledge in mining the blueprints made also helps to improve the mining infrastructures of other empires. You can research your blueprints on these mining infrastructures. Each successful implementation of blueprint by research will let you mine 10% more effectively.
Before you start doing your researches, take a look at your racial modifiers. Figure out which infrastructure research will profit you the most. Plan your researches. Every race will have its different most profitable means. Focusing research on that will ensure that you make the most for your empire out of every turn. It is advised that you try to focus on only one research and at the max two. This is to ensure a better resource generation outcome. For an example, a Terran who have 20 level research of commercial will definitely make more money than a Terran who have 10 level of research on commercial and 10 levels of Housing. It is always best to do you researches when you are in protection. Another tip for you is when you are doing your researches, and you are in DP, it is best to disband all your ships to save up money because your ships will use money for upkeeps. |
Technology Tree
During the governance of the United World Council, empires did not need worry about going into war because they were well protected where all those who did not abide by the law would be cast out to the furthest parts of the universe. Ships built from beginning of time for races have been stored in hangars of respective races. The leaders vowed never to use them again because of the peace treaties among the race leaders. These are the leaders who headed the United World Council. However, certain amount of ships were selected and used by the United World Council to fight the outlaws of the universe. The ships kept in the hangars faded to only memories that haunted them about the past wars and all the blood that had been shed.
After all the leaders assassinated, the United World Council's fleets were disbanded. There were no more major fleets. The armies of the United World Council returned to their respective races. With no one to protect them anymore, empires throughout the universe have to be independent now. These empires will need to protect themselves from attacks. The ships from the hangars have been brought out to use. However, the ships have been left in the hangar for too long and they are not functional anymore.
Blueprints for building ships and used by the United World Council are known to all the armies. To build them, you'll need to research on them by gathering bits and pieces of information of the blueprint from the ex-armies of the United World Council in your empire. All empires know these ships and they are called the "Neutral Ships".
Where as ships from respective races are used only by that race, some ships are now race specific. That is why different races will have different ships with very many different capabilities. To gain the capability to build them again, empire leaders will have to spend time researching the old ships to draw out the blueprints of those ships again. Only with the blueprints redrawn can an empire build those ships again.
Remember, the more ships you have, the more advantages you'll have against other players because you can choose among a variety of different capability ships to build. It's advised that you research all your ships before you come out of Newbie Protection where other players can attack you.

Projects Research
Other than researching on the technology available to each race, you will be given the option to research on projects.
Projects that can give you even more advantages in the game like spying capability, defense, planet exploration and empire/system upgrades.
After completing the research for certain projects, you'll need to go to "Projects" under "Science" to activate it. Remember, you must fulfill the requirements before you can use it.
Remember, the more ships you have, the more advantages you'll have against other players because you can choose among a variety of different capability ships to build. It's advised that you research all your ships before you come out of Newbie Protection where other players can attack you. It is always best to do you researches when you are in protection. Another tip for you is when you are doing your research, and in DP, it is always best to disband all your ships to save up money because your ships will use money for upkeeps. |
